I can do it!

Today started off in an interesting way. Kyler woke up at 7 which isn't horribly early for him, but he proceeded to wake up the other two kids who were not ready to wake up! LeRoy got them breakfast and I let them watch a show while I tried to get some more sleep having stayed up until almost two talking to my brother on the phone. I ended up just giving up and starting the day at eight. I was really worried it was gonna be bad, since I knew that LeRoy had a meeting tonight and then had to go to the church to do some finance stuff. Lucky for me the day was pretty okay. We've been pretty consistent with our little morning routine of unloading the dishwasher and reloading the breakfast dishes, then starting a load of laundry and getting ourselves dressed and ready for the day. So, that all got done which always makes me feel a little better about things. Since they woke up so early, Trey was ready for lunch at like 10:30. So, we cooked up some "potato chips" (sliced potatoes roasted in the oven) and corn dogs. I had thought about going to the library this morning only to remember it was Tuesday not Thursday, so there is no story time. Trey said he just wanted to go check out books, so we ended up going after school. They were great at the library. Actually, it was Rachel who did the most running off. Golly, that girl is fearless! I am hoping to go back for story time on Thursday and take at least some of the books back before having to pay late fees for the first time in too long. I call it my way of giving back to the Library system. We ran to the store and got asparagus before it went off sale. We came home and made dinner by 5 o'clock (again a result of kids having woken up early) and I didn't even have to really fight with Kyler. I just told him he had to eat three tiny bites off beef from our Yakisoba in order to get a cookie. He held off for a while, but finally caved. He ate his noodles, carrots, broccoli and peas. The boys helped me load the dinner dishes in and it would be running if I hadn't forgotten to get dishwasher soap. It turned out better since Tuesday is a bath night and our hot water tank isn't big enough for the dishwasher and bath tub at the same time. So they were all bathed and pajamaed by 7:00. Just in time to read a few new library books, watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, read scriptures, brush teeth and in bed all by 8:00. The coolest part about it: LeRoy still isn't home! Not that I don't want him to be, but I did all of this by myself! Ladies, I'm ready for another baby!! Oh, LeRoy just called and he's bringing home dishwasher soap and ice cream. Yippee! Man oh man, life is good!

What's a post without a sweet picture of my great family!!

Tonight's FHE

Tonight is my night for the Family Home Evening lesson at our house. We've been struggling for months to get Kyler to eat. I've tried the power struggle and it just doesn't work, especially not with Kyler. I had heard about the mypyramid.gov website and hadn't really looked at it. So, today I got on and they have a whole little section for preschoolers. So, I've printed off a chart for each of them showing what foods and serving sizes for their respected ages. I'm gonna laminate them and put them in the kitchen/dining room somewhere. I have a page for them to color and a little work sheet for us to write down what they eat in a day. I hope that somehow it might help Kyler just a little. You should totally check it out! And if you have any ideas on how to convince a child to try something new without saying, "I don't like it," I will forever be in your debt. Have a great family night!

My little photographer!

Trey learned how to set the timer on the camera. I really shouldn't let him play with it, but I just think the pictures he takes are so fun.

Trey was so proud of this picture. He had just finished a whole page of adding, so I did the problems for him and he colored. He's getting to be quite the little colorer.

Just some examples of his new found self portrait skills.

Such a little man!

Insight and update

Insight: I was thinking this morning as we knelt around my bed for morning prayers, having to move clothes and stuff aside in order to find carpet below that I am so thankful for a Heavenly Father that hears my prayers anywhere. He doesn't care who we are, where we are, sinner or saint. He loves us all and wants to hear from us. I need to work harder on that.
Update: We took Rachel to the doctor yesterday and found out she has rotovirus. I had never really dealt with it before, in part because my older kids never got it before they got the vaccine. Rachel is the lucky one. The vomiting is over and shouldn't come back, but the diarrhea could last another week! I'm so glad she's in diapers. The doctor said she is scheduled to get her rotovirus vaccine in the next batch or so which makes me hope that we won't have to deal with it again unless another baby comes along. So, she seems to be getting a little better. She can walk again, she's smiling and playing. I think we'll get through as always. I have a million things on my list to do today to make up for not really doing anything this week! Here goes!!

After posting, I gave Rachel a popsicle and she was just too cute to not take a pic.

Poor baby girl.

I don't know if I have been more sad for Rachel then I was last night and this morning as I watched her puke her cute little guts out. Poor little thing didn't know what was happening to her. Boy, does she have attitude when she's sick! She kept pushing the puke bowl away like that was the cause of her doing this horrible thing. She's been sleeping off and on through the night. So far she hasn't thrown up since early this morning. Hopefully, I'm not jinxing myself by saying that out loud.

Clay's first visit to Cheney!

My mom and sister came over to play the other day. It was a very fun day together. I look forward to many more play dates!

Trey already knows how to play games and hold a baby. Too bad that won't work in about three months!
They watched a movie together.
Clay tried to take a nap.

Rachel was her normal loving self. She just adores this guy! She started squealing when she saw my sister in the car. It was sooo cute!
